What would Xena do? I saw this on a bumper sticker a couple of years ago when I was in the process of making yet another move and major change in my life. It was perfect timing. For those readers who are not familiar with Xena: Warrior Princess, the television series (1995-2001) was a historical fantasy set in ancient Greece. The main character Xena played by Lucy Lawless is a "reformed warlord on a quest to redeem her past sins." She is strong, confident, brave and fiercely beautiful.

I must admit that I have never actually watched a full episode, however, I was aware of the show and it's cult status popularity. Xena had become a synonym for tough, warrior-like women. In 1999 when I lived in Homer, Alaska, my neighbors had the most wonderfully feisty little female cat named Xena who visited me often and displayed fearless confidence. Or maybe I just thought she did because of her name.

So, when I saw this bumper sticker I had one of those aha moments and was suffused with the delighted realization that we can all have our own version of our inner Xena: Warrior Princess (or Prince) to call on in times requiring our bravest, most courageous self. Like times when we need to get unstuck; or times when we need the courage to take a risk and start our own business; or times when we have reached a major crossroads in life and must make a decision or reach out for help on how to proceed. What character represents your bravest, most audacious self? Who would you like to call on to come to your rescue?

Hey, I tried this and it worked for me. In a moment of insanity, I agreed to speak in front of a fairly large group. So, aside from a slight feeling of smugness, what have we gained from seeing what these celebrities' occupations before they were famous? Not much, but it's clear that celebrities come from all walks of life and you never know when you might be spotted. Hopefully that'll give you the impetus to return to your online job search with renewed vigour, afterall sir Bob Geldof wasn't stuck canning peas forever!

Regular People Are Featured By Nutrisystem As Much As Celebrities: At any given time, you can log into the company's web site and you're very likely to see a featured picture of a regular person who has lost a lot of weight.  In truth, although there are a good number of celeb alumni with this diet, there are thousands more ordinary, every day people who don't get nearly as much attention by the media, although the company does feature them.  In fact, if you check out the "success stories" section of the website, you'll see lots of moms, dads, and every day men and women who have had much more dramatic weight loss than the people who are being paid to talk about it.

I actually prefer to focus on these folks because their life is closer to my reality.  Most of us researching this diet have jobs, children, and a million and one things to juggle. We don't have someone to prepare, research, and plan our meals.  So, it's important to know and understand that regular people with regular responsibilities are definitely having success with this diet too.

It Doesn't Take A Personal Chef To Prepare A Nutrisystem Meal: I know I've mentioned "stars" and their personal chefs, but honestly, you don't need one on this diet. These meals come prepackaged.  You really only need to assemble them.  You are asked to provide healthful fresh foods, but this is as easy as adding a salad, piece of fruit, or container of yogurt. 

As tempting as it is, don't use the convenience excuse with nutrisystem. It just isn't valid.  This is one of the most convenient diets on the market.  There are no calories or carbs to count.  You don't have to make special or elaborate meals.  All of the work has really been done for you.

You Don't Need A One On One Trainer For Nutrisytem.  Even If You Are Not A VIP, Support Is Free:  Even if you don't have the advantage on being on "Dancing With The Stars" like Belinda Belinda Carlisle and Marie Osmond, you are offered free one on one support.  You don't need a one on one trainer here. 

Once you place an order, you're automatically given access to NutriSystem's members-only website which offers tons of support.  You get information, tracking tools, a daily newsletter and motivation and one on one counseling.  All of this is totally free and is covered with the cost of your food.  This counseling is very expensive in the outside world, in my experience.  All of this cost you nothing, so you really can't use the personal trainer excuse.  I was surprised to read that a small percentage of clients don't use these services.  Some don't even know that they are there.  By all means take advantage of every single thing that is offered to you.  Every little bit helps. 

The bottom line is that, although the Hollywood set draws our attention to this diet, the vast majority of it's clientele are every day people who don't have the Hollywood advantage.  But, the truth is, you don't really need this.  You will get the same food that Marie Osmond eats and you'll only need to assemble it.  And, if you chose to take advantage of it, you'll get daily support every step of the way, even if you don't have a trainer.

It is a lot easier than most guys realise to actually get a girls phone number. It doesn't matter if a girl is in a relationship, very attractive or even a celebrity. The golden rule of getting a girls number is that you must actually get her number. Do not just give her yours as there is a much lower chance of her calling you.

Method 1: Getting the number while planning a date

When you think about what a number is, at the end of the day it is merely a chance at a date. So why not actually plan a date instead. That is the basis for the first method - planning a date. When you are comfortable talking to a girl suggest to her that you two should do something together. Be specific if you have an idea in your head.

Do not suggest dinner or a movie, this is very cheesy and has been done a million times. Aside from that it isn't a very good date location - it is awkward eating in from of someone on a first date and you can't really talk in the movies. Try something much more relaxed and informal such as drinks at a nice wine bar.

If you don't have an idea in your head, just say that you two should hang out on a certain day. Then simply take out your phone as you say the words "Here, give me your number and I'll let you know the plan".

It is key to pull out your phone and have it on the keypad screen (if you have an iPhone this won't be the default screen). Give it to her so she can put in her number. Do not ask the question "Can I have you number?". Instead make it a statement: "Give me your number". This shows dominance and will make the girl much more likely to comply.

Method 2: Getting the number when you are in a rush

If time is an issue and she is leaving shortly or you need to leave quickly then there is a slightly different strategy for this situation. If you don't have enough time to have a proper conversation and make the girl feel comfortable enough to arrange a date then you can go for a more informal approach.

Say that you have to go and your friends are all going to X bar/club later. You can also say you're going there tomorrow or next weekend. Then say that her and her friends should come and you'll give her a text later to let them know if it's good. Then use the same method as above to pull out your phone as you tell her you will text her later.

After this can text her next time you and your friends are going out and arrange to meet up. It also gives you a chance to text her later than night or the next day to say how much fun you had. This is a great way to initiate a conversation by text and build up towards a date.

Method 3: Getting her to suggest a date

If you have plenty of time to talk to a girl, then start to mention cool things than you are doing over the next week. If at any point she seems really interested and says something like "I'd love to do/see that" or "That sounds like so much fun". Take this as an indication that she is interested in doing that with you as well. All you need to say is "Cool, give me your number and I might invite you along". Use the same technique of bringing out your phone as you say this. It is a very quick and easy way to get her number and does not put too much pressure on her.

Which episode of the Golden Girls does this occur in?

I used to watch reruns of the Golden Girls on Lifetime ALL THE TIME! There's this episode that prominently sticks out in my mind. In it, Dorothy keeps getting the same gag pulled on her. She would be at a meeting with a Japanese man, I think, or answering the phone and someone would say "Knock, knock." She'd respond and they'd say Joe Mama. It still cracks me up to this day. I love it. Even if you could narrow it down the season that would be great!

Sadly, I doubt that they have the time to actually sign for all their fans. I got my SCREAM cd signed back in May, though I was at the NYC signing session at Virgin Megastore.

Maybe they'll have a signing session in your city or somewhere close by (for SCREAM or for a future cd), you could go. But those events you probably have to get a wristband from the sponsering store. So make sure to be there early because they go out FAST.
