In the Marx Brothers film "A Day at the Races," Harpo plays the piano with keys busting and flying up, finally the entire piano collapsing. BUT... does anyone know the name of the piece he was playing during all of this?
The very famous Rachmaninoff 'Prelude In C Sharp'!
Fun Fact: By the time Rachmaninoff had moved to the US the Prelude was so famous that it was expected and sometimes demanded by his audiences as an encore. Rachmaninoff stated, privately of course, that he played it so often that he grew to hate the Prelude and wished he hadn't written it. He also said the same thing about his famous Prelude In G Minor.
Actually, if you're a fan of the Marx Brothers classical music is featured in every one of their films except 'Go West.' And 'Night At The Opera' is one of my favorite films.
