Choose from the fine wines of Andalusia, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Albariño accompanied by delicious homemade tapas like Spanish-style potato salad, octopus in a tomato-based sauce, potato croquettes and spicy pork sausages. There's a wide range of other savoury dishes on offer including platters of cold meats, Spanish omelette and spinach with peppers. The interior is decorated like a traditional Andalusian house with the addition of wine barrels and pots of geraniums in the windows. Look on the walls to see photos of all the famous celebrities who have been here and you'll also find the barrels have been signed by well-known flamenco performers. It's a two-storey venue where the owners organize regular painting and sculpture exhibitions and conferences.

CAFÉ CENTRAL
As its name suggests, it has a central location by Plaza de la Constitución and it has been here for over 100 years. A mosaic on the wall inside describes how to order a coffee properly in Malaga using all the specialist terms: "milky", "strong and black", "just a touch of milk" etc. It even shows you how much coffee is put in each type. Simply ordering coffee is not always as easy as it looks. The traditional old-fashioned atmosphere and decor have been preserved along with a special display counter full of cakes, a delicatessen and a lottery stand. It's open all day and has tables on the pavement if you want to enjoy the good weather or watch the hustle and bustle of city life.

This restaurant,whuch is owned by the famous actor from Málaga, Antonio Banderas, is one of the best restaurants for dinner or for "tapas". The prices are very reasonable, and even though the restaurant is large, it's always full with a good mix of people. The wood decor stands out, and it has two entrances on the same street, two floors and two bars, too. The fried eggplant and the grilled meat are truly excellent. Another good choice is the red pepper salad, which usually comes with fried "pescaito" (small fish). They make some original salads, and they have a good selection of pates, quality ham, chorizo and cheese. Try one of the wines on the ample list or have some draught beer.

LA CAMPANA
One of only two branches left in the city, this authentic old tavern is so popular it's sure to last another 110 years. The atmosphere is real. You're served by serious waiters with a piece of chalk tucked behind their ear who use it to write your bill on the ancient wooden bar, and you're surrounded by serious drinkers like journalists and others from the world of the communications industry. You can order the best moscatel in the province straight from the barrel or a fine Rioja or cool beer. You'll be served tiny tapas of fried fish, mussels, octopus salad or sea urchins. It's often so busy you have to stand outside in the street with your drinks.

CAFÉ MADRID
Cafe Madrid is a Málaga tradition. It dates back to 1892 and the walls are adorned with huge photographs of old Málaga. Located in the heart of Málaga, about 100 metres from the Plaza de la Constitución, this is one of the few cafes in Málaga that serves Madrid-style churros. The cafe is a great vantage point during Semana Santa celebrations, as all the religious floats pass by the huge windows. The proximity to the Teatro Cervantes means it has become a popular meeting point for artists and politicans.

LAS GARRAFAS
A classic of the old town. With more than 50 years of history this place is as successful today as it was when it first started. A long wooden bar and tables full of memories engraved in with keys in their two rooms - the outside and the indoor. This is traditionally a bodega and is full of barrels of different wines, especially sweet wines from the area. The best tapas are the salads - they have a long list of them - russian potato, seafood, octopus, marine, Malaga red pepper...this is a place for many foreigners who enjoy the typical things. Very attractive.

ANTIGUA CASA DEL GUARDIA
This old place with an unrivalled reputation has been going for more than a century. In the middle of Alameda Principal, it is still full of customers - old and new -. The wines in barrels (and bulk) are certainly the best option. Not only can you try the different wines but you can also take a bottle home to share with the family or friends. As far as the food goes, some seafood tapas or "pescaito frito" (little fried fish, famous in Malaga) should help you enjoy washing down the vino.

SAL GORDA
may be interesting to know that this fantastic establishment belongs to Javier Conde's (a famous bullfighter) family. Its walls are decorated with objects related to bullfighting, photographs, publicity posters and other memorabilia belonging to this matador. Their food is excellent and prices are affordable. They regularly organize gastronomic events. We recommend their oysters, which are the specialty of the house. Moreover, they offer all kinds of tapas and pescaíto frito (small, whole fried fish). They give customers a glass of vermouth for free. Young people always figure amongst their regular customers.

LA CEPA
This restaurant specialises in cod: al pil-pil, a la riojana (with red pepper), fried, oven-cooked, in salsa verde (garlic and parsley sauce), in salads, a la malagueña, as croquettes. Cod is the be-all and end-all of this establishment that serves tapas, portions and half portions. You can sit at the bar or at a table and look forward to a good hearty meal. They have very good wines, especially sweet wines and Moscatel de Málaga. Their desserts are home-made with fruits and ice-cream.

CAFETERÍA LEPANTO
This cafe is located on one of the busiest streets in the city and has a reputation for excellence. The business started off in Marbella and soon moved to Malaga as well and it's been looking after locals with a sweet tooth for over 25 years. The interior is exquisitely decorated and serves delicious homemade cakes and pastries. One unusual speciality is the edible "photocake" that carries the image you request on the top. Or, you could simply opt for the traditional breakfasts and afternoon teas. There is a small salon inside and tables out on calle Larios.

If you're thinking of visiting Milan, you can find lots of fun things to do during your stay. Milan is a fashion forward city, with young, ambitious people who love to party at the clubs, shop for fine couture, drink lattes in the street cafes, with some of the best Italian cuisine.

Milan is a friendly, bustling city whose culture is based on the historical significance of the artwork and statues you see everywhere you go. Here are some of the favorite things to do in Milan.

At the historical heart of Milan sits the Piazza del Duomo. The famous cathedral, or the Dome as Italians call it, is a beautiful sight. It recently underwent renovation and now provides a rooftop walk that allows the visitor to overlook the city in a way not possible otherwise. You cannot help but notice the historical statues and artwork found all around the Piazza. Directly in the center of the Piazza facing the Duomo is the statue of Vittorio Emanuele II. Inside the cathedral, one of the nails from the crucifixion of Christ is illuminated.

If you go to the plaza during the day, you'll see Milanese bustling about, pigeons everywhere, and nearby shopping and cafes. You may even run into the occasional pickpocket and street hustler trying to sell you some form of tourist trinket or memorabilia. Regardless, this is a spectacular place to "people watch".

The core of the fashion district in Milan is definitely Via Montenapoleone. Luxurious boutiques of top Italian and international designers, antique shops, and tearooms are the physical proofs of Milan's status of Europe's fashion capital.

Via Montenapoleone is the most important street of the Milan's Fashion District, called in Italian "Quadrilatero della moda" made of Via della Spiga, Via Manzoni, Via Sant'Andrea and Via Montenapoleone. All major Italian fashion designers have their main shops here: Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Kenzo, Krizia, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Vuitton or Zegna.

Corso Como is the place for nightlife in Milan. This is the hot spot for clubs, bars, and restaurants. Models are found in all of these clubs dressed to kill. Because Milan is a fashion city, chic fashion and trendy club wear is expected at these clubs.

Great nightlife can be found in Navigli, a river area in southern Milan. You can walk through the streets and find bars, discos and restaurants. They shut down the streets in late spring and summer and you can sit in the middle of the street with friends and chat. Happy Hour is bustling from 6pm to 9pm with folks straight out of work meeting friends for a drink.

Le Meridien Gallia Hotel is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Milan's renowned Piazza Duca d'Aosta. The Duomo Cathedral, Santa Maria Delle Grazie, La Scala Theatre and the Fairgrounds are some of the tourist attractions nearby. With two universities in a relatively small city, nightlife in Dundee tends to be livelier during the academic term times than when the student population is not there. Having said that there are plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants to choose from that will give you a friendly welcome. Being one of the most northern cities in the UK summer evenings are that bit longer. Which means it's all the better to enjoy a drink or meal outdoors until late into the evening. Of course the converse is also true, shorter daytimes in the winter, but that just gives you different good reasons to settle into a cosy and warm bar or restaurant to meet and chat with some friends.

Bars and Pubs:
The Doghouse on Barn Street is one of the newer 'drinking halls' that are prevalent in all the UKs cities. However, it has a good and relaxed atmosphere and regularly has live music from local bands during weekend evenings. There is also a regular comedy club, with an 'open mic' on Mondays. Although the beer served here won't win any awards; pool tables and an out-door seating area make this a very pleasant doghouse to be in. The unlikely named Reading Rooms, at Blackscroft, is actually one of Scotland's best live music venues, catering to a wide spectrum of tastes. Everything from big band to folk music can be show cased here, or if you fancy a free lesson in break-dancing then go along on a Wednesday evening. The pub has a beer garden, which is particularly pleasant on a summers evening. Some of the best pubs in the area are in neighbouring Broughty Ferry. The Fisherman's Tavern on Fort Street, serves good cask ales and has plenty of nooks and crannies to sit in. This hotel and pub holds an annual beer festival in June, which can get a bit raucous but the proceeds go to support the Lifeboat Association. The Ship Inn is on the seafront at Fisher Street. It's a small 'cabin' style pub, that would be quaintly described as intimate. Inside there are loads of nautical memorabilia and great views across the Forth of Tay.

Restaurants:
With two AA rosettes the Alchemy Restaurant in the Dundee City Quay Hotel is definitely the place to eat the best food in town. The head chef, Bruce Price , has produced a menu with all the best in Scottish and European ingredients and cooking. The three course set menu is a little under £30 per head, excluding drinks. There is also the Highland tasting menu at £32 per head. The restaurants wine list, whilst not containing any great vintages, is accessible to everyone. Wine prices, excluding champagnes, range from under £12 for a Sauvignon Blanc to £40 for a Burgundy. A winner of the Scottish Good Curry Guide award is the Dil'se restaurant on Perth Road. Expect to pay around £20 per head, at this modern glass fronted restaurant, for a three course meal. Dil'se serves mainly Bangladeshi food including an excellent Chicken Tikka dish. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, ask if the 'Mas Bangla' is on the menu when you're there, it is an innovative dish using Scottish Salmon. Howie's Restaurant and Bar is on South Tay Street. Although small and intimate, it's contemporary and sophisticated ambience appeals to a clientele seeking a more 'exclusive' evening out at unpretentious prices. A two course dinner at under £20 a head makes Howie's excellent value for money. The Jute Café-Bar is a popular place to lunch in Dundee, as well as being open for evening meals. Located in the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, on Nethergait, dishes include tuna and roast chilli wraps and spicy pork skewers with a honey glaze. Also on Nethergait is the Deep Sea. Run by an Italian family from Tuscany, this is the place to go if you fancy eating out on a fish supper - that's fish and chips to most of us. You can eat in, or take out, these excellently prepared and generous portions. However, be aware that it closes early in the evening. Staying with an Italian theme, in Broughty Ferry there is an Ice Cream shop and cafe called Visocchi's - which is also owned by an Italian family. If it's hot and summery enjoy a gorgeous ice cream or if it's cold and damp; an espresso in the morning or a pizza for lunch. Visocchi's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Gray Street, a couple of hundred metres above the harbour.

Entertainment:
The largest night club in Dundee is Fat Sams, which is on South Ward Road, inside the city centre, near Marketgait. The club is used for just about everything from disco and rave nights to being a venue for 'indie' bands like The Cribs. Other clubs include; Déjà Vu on Cowgait and the Mono at Airle Place. With a seated capacity of 2300 and a standing capacity of 5000 the Dundee Ice Arena can be used for major touring bands and shows. There is a Dundee Repertory Theatre at Tay Square. The company was formed in 1939 and has been in its present theatre, with a 450 seat auditorium, for 25 years. It is currently the only theatre in Scotland with a resident ensemble of actors and is also home to the Scottish Dance Theatre. As well as mounting its own drama and dance productions the theatre is used by other touring companies. The city also hosts an annual Dundee Mountain Film Festival. The 2150 seat Caird Hall was once used only for classical concerts. However, now touring bands and musical shows are frequent visitors to this recently refurbished venue in the heart of the city.

Finding somewhere to have a drink in Edinburgh, or as the Scots say "have a wee swallie", is one of the easiest things to do; regardless of whether you want a quiet drink in a local, a sophisticated wine bar or a full-blown 'anything goes' party atmosphere. The same is true for restaurants with cheap eating places in the student areas of the city, a swathe of good value mid-priced restaurants throughout the city and some of the best and most expensive cuisine in Scotland also on offer. Apart from the international festival in the summer there are always top class shows, plays and gigs on offer in this capital city.

Pubs and Bars:
The Bow Bar is in the Grassmarket area of the Old Town on West Bow. The fact that it is mentioned in just about all the guide books going means that this is a place you can rely on. Originally brewed here as a 'house-beer', the pub is famous for being the home of Deuchars IPA, now produced by the Caledonian Brewery. However, my reason for drinking here is that they serve Timothy Taylor Landlord as well. Being only a one-room bar the place is very popular and can get very busy, so if you want to have a session there - get in early to claim a seat. In the New Town area and famous for being the favourite place for "Inspector Rebus" to have a tipple, the Oxford Bar on Young Street is another small drinking venue in the city. Located just off Charlotte Square, inside it is laid out like a Victorian parlour and has 'Robbie Burns' memorabilia all over the place. Ian Rankin is reputed to drink their regularly and you can contribute to story lines on the pubs website. Heading north away from the city centre on Cumberland Street is the Cumberland Bar. It claims to pour the 'best pint' in Edinburgh, which might be to do with the fact that they still have- and use - some of the traditional Scottish tall fount pumps. This is a split-level bar in a Victorian tenement, there are usually several guest beers but best of all - this is another venue for a pint of 'Landlord'.

Restaurants:
Whilst the Scotsman and the Balmoral hotels have excellent restaurants and top-class chefs if I were to eat in an Edinburgh hotel restaurant I would choose the Witchery by the Castle every time. With two restaurants to choose from - the Secret Garden and the Inner Sanctum - I prefer the Secret Garden, especially on a crisp autumn or winter evening when the lighting effects can be appreciated at their best. The food is, of course, equally good in either restaurant and you can get a three course meal for under £40 a head, excluding drinks, but if you need to budget for a meal out then perhaps this isn't the place to go. The wine list is as comprehensive as the menu. Whilst you can get a good wine with your meal for around £30 the wine list has over 1000 available bins. At the Balmoral Hotel you could have Michelin starred chef James Bland cook for you, three course dinners here start at around £60 a head, again excluding drinks. Whilst the wine list includes a 1988 Chateau Le Pin at a staggering £1000 a bottle the thought of a 1993 Tokay Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal at £135 a bottle is tempting. As for the Scotsman Hotel, I think the thought that they have a room with 399 malt whiskies to choose from - is probably a compelling reason for visiting there at some point.
Top of the range restaurants that have more accessible prices are; the Atrium restaurant on Cambridge Street, where a three course dinner can be had for under £30; here the roast duck is a house speciality. Alternatively you could try the Restaurant Martin Wishart at The Shore, Leith. No guesses for who the chef is here, but again he's Michelin starred and well known for his game and fish dishes.
If you fancy getting out of the city then a visit to the Cramond Inn, in the suburb of Cramond on the banks of the river Almond is a great place to have a lunch-time meal and a drink. Top class 'home-cooking' and an atmosphere that is a sheer joy. Back in the city, David Bann's on St Mary's Street is a popular restaurant with vegetarian diners.

Entertainment:
It is simply not possible to list all the entertainment venues and opportunities for this capital city. However, top off the list must be the Edinburgh Festivals and the best known Edinburgh International Festival which is held annually in August. If you seek something more energetic then Edinburgh is home to the best "drum'n'bass" nights in Scotland at the Honeycomb club on Niddry Street. Alternatively, Henry's Jazz Cellar on Morrison Street is all you could wish for in a jazz club, being in a small and dark basement. With plenty of indoor and outdoor arenas the big touring bands can always be accommodated. Edinburgh has four main permanent theatres: The Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Royal Lyceum, The Stand and The Traverse. The Festival Theatre on Nicolson Street is the main one and produces shows ranging from: drama, ballet, opera and dance to folk concerts.
