You don't have to be rich to have great looking walls.

There is plenty of overpriced artwork hanging on some peoples walls, but I'm not one of those people. Posters, provide a great affordable, alternative to original or limited edition prints. Not everyone can afford to have an original Vincent van Gogh in their house, but most can afford some nice framed posters of his original work. I like to change the art on my walls regularly. It gets boring looking at the same old stuff for too long. Moving the frames around from room to room, can help keep the price down, and still make your el-cheapo posters look like original works of art. Not to mention, it's a whole lot cheaper just buying new posters, instead of original or limited edition prints.

Is there a movie or pop star that belongs up on your wall?

Why is it that kids are always decorating their walls with rock stars, sports stars, and movie stars? And secondly, why is it that adults never seem to. Well, at least most adults don't. I do have a poster of Captain Jack from Pirates Of The Caribbean on my office door. I do tend to enjoy the movies of Mr. Depp, and Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorites, but I think I just put the poster up because I thought it was cool. Celebrities have always held a fascination amongst the average population. Something about making your own life seem more interesting buy associating with someone whose life already seems fascinating. At least in the headlines.

Movie posters use to be for promotional purposes only, but not anymore.

I really like posters from the movie Pulp Fiction here. Not because it's one of the latest releases in the theaters, but simply because it isn't. For some reason this poster has continued to be one of the big sellers, even though it's been at least ten years since Travolta made of of the biggest Hollywood comebacks in history, when Tarantino cast him in the role. It's attained a certain amount of cult status, which means, the kids still think it's cool and that their parents have forgotten about it. It is cool, and Travolta's character was cool in the movie, even he professionally cashed in his cool bank account with a flop called Battlefield Earth.

An elevator speech is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator speech can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words). The idea of an "elevator speech" is to have a prepared presentation that grabs attention and says a lot in a few words.

It is said that many of the most important decisions made on the floor of the United States' House or Senate are made "within the span of an elevator ride" as a staff aide whispers into a Congressman or Senator's ear while they head down to the floor to cast their vote.

Do you remember the key scene in the movie Working Girl when Melanie Griffith's character delivers her elevator pitch (literally done in the elevator)?

An effective elevator speech comes in handy when you attend an event, a conference, a convention, or some other type of meeting with networking opportunities. You will notice that one of the first questions people ask is, "And, what do you do?" "Oh, I'm a lawyer ... or an accountant ... or a consultant ... or an artist..." It doesn't matter because they will often say, "Oh, that's nice," and immediately label you in their mind with all of the stereotypes they perceive those occupations carry with them. However, if you turn your message around and start with an answer like, "I work with small businesses that are grappling with computer problems," right away - especially if they own a small business - their ears will perk up and they will want to know more.

Developing Your Elevator Speech

Map it out:

o Who am I and what do I have to offer?

o What am I looking for and why?

o What can I contribute?

o What would I like?

Ask yourself the following questions to help round out your preparations and give depth to your message.

o What is my purpose? What am I trying to accomplish?

o What would be a successful outcome?

o How do I want people to feel?

o What do I want people to remember?

Keep in mind the basic elements of an effective elevator speech:

o Concise: An effective elevator speech is succinct, containing as few words as possible, but no fewer.

o Clear: Rather than being filled with acronyms, jargon, and ten-dollar words, an effective elevator speech can be understood by your grandparents, parents, and the kid next door. Make sure the audience understands what you are talking about and what's in it for them.

o Informative: As much as is possible, an effective elevator speech is specific and tangible. Talk about demonstrable accomplishments and goals.

o Engaging: Your elevator speech is a conversation starter, not a monologue. You want to spark the interest of your audience, not bore them.

o Finish with a Request: At the end of your pitch, you must ask for something. Do you want their business card, to schedule a full presentation, to ask for a referral?

Put your plan into action:

o Write out a script.

o Practice in front of the mirror, and with friends, family, or CES. Record it, and listen to it. Do you sound confident? Sincere? Is it engaging?

o Ask for feedback.

Once you get a chance to try out the speech, think about how it worked for you:

o How did you feel?

o How did your audience react?

o Was there something you wish you had said?

o Was there something you wish you had not said?

o Update your speech and get ready for the next time!

Try it out as often as you can. If the other person immediately responds, you have a winner. If their eyes seem to glaze over, they give you a confused look or if they bob their head with a fake smile on their face, you may consider tweaking it a bit.

To sell their pictures the film industry quickly adapted the display of brightly colored film posters in strategic locations. Soon, film enthusiasts started collecting these vibrantly coloured film posters.

Nowadays due to the short life of films in theatres, posters advertising films shrunk in size and are no longer preserved as a collectors item.

Does the budget of a movie take into account marketing the film?

whenever you hear that that movie cost $200 million to make, for example, does that include putting previews on television, posters in movie theaters, ads all over the internet, etc.?

Kind of. When you say budget you are referring to several things. Typically, with big studio films, you'll have a few different, separate, budgets. This would normally include a Production Budget, a D&A Budget, and an International Budget. They are kept separately for simplicity's sake.

A production budget is just that: production. Making the movie. When you hear someone say, this movie spent X dollars getting made, they are referring to a production budget.

However, the studios do budget for D&A, or distribution and advertising. Typically, a budget ranging anywhere from 15-40 million is set aside for this alone. It is costly printing the film to send to theaters, making posters, buying tv spots, radio, billboards, etc.

So yes, when a movie is budgeted they take account the advertising costs. But it is held as a separate budget from production and international distribution.

Just FYI:
Often the total cost of the combine budgets for one movie are so big that the film has no hope of making it from theatre tickets alone. Studios know that they will not make money from theatre sales. Instead they count on DVD sales, DVD rentals, and international sales.

Ngong House-Kenya Nairobi treehouse

Ngong House will make you want to extend your stay in Nairobi. It is luxurious, romantic, and fun and gives the impression that you are way out in the African bush, even though you are barely 20 minutes from downtown Nairobi.

Guests stay in wooden tree houses facing the distinctive knuckle shaped Ngong Hills. But what Nairobi tree houses! These are double storied fantastic creations with superb attention to detail and every comfort imaginable. There are stained glass windows, a fully -stocked bar, brass showerheads, comfy couches, Kilims and saddle bags, lovingly hand-made furniture and lamps. The cupboard doors have been fashioned from old Arab dhows, and the basins in the bathrooms look like old-fashioned painted bowls.

Big windows make the most of the view, and a small kitchen allows gong house staff to serve you meals in privacy of your own tree house if you prefer. You can sit out on your veranda watching the sun set over the Ngong Hills or marvel at the variety of birds visiting your bird feeder.

The four thatched treehouses are well-spaced and hidden from each other by natural bush. You enter by climbing up wooden steps and through a big "trap door". One of the tree houses is lower and requires less climbing (is also the only one with a bath as well as a shower). The treehouses are named for the four points on the compass and each has a different decorative theme. For example "East" has furniture from Bali including a huge four poster bed with carved headboard, and "North" is decorated in blues and wrought iron to simulate "cold".

Guests have use of the expansive (10 acre) grounds, including the pleasant swimming pools and adjoining bar and change room. Breakfast and lunches can be taken out on the shady lawns. Dinner is served in an open-sided thatched rondavel with fireplace. Hand-blown glass and delicate silver graced the table and you dine extravagantly on tilapia, zebra and a sinful desert. All were elegantly presented in mouth watering sauces and accompanied by good South African wines.

Paul Verleysen, a Belgian who has decided to make Africa his home, is the creative force behind Ngong House. He lives in the main house on the property and, together with his son, Chrestof, will act as manager and host. They bring flair and energy to the task.

How do I line up pictures on MySpace in rows of 2?

Under my movies section I have six movie posters of my favorite movies. They take up alot of room when they are in a single column and they dont look very good either... Is it possible to get them to be in three rows two columns? (two in each row)
I know icons automatically do this on the right side of the page, but i made the posters pretty small and they still wont move by themselves like the other icons do in the "id like to meet" section. thanks!

I like the black and white photos idea. If you have some pictures of your own, you can just go to Staples and get them copied into black and white. A lot of stores are starting to have their holiday sales now so you could probably get some good deals on black frames.

1. PRESENTATION - DRESS RIGHT. Know your Image and Type.

First impressions do count so Go for the Gold...not the time for sloppy jeans or east village thrift shop clothes (unless THAT is your type). Dress with confidence like a movie star so that's how they remember you. For guys: LOOK like you're already starring on CSI and you probably will! Ladies: vibrant colors, sexy boots, go upscale like "Gossip Girl" or "Ugly Betty" not walking the dog or day off to the gym clothes.

2. PASSION - TALK ABOUT WHERE YOU CAREER IS GOING - Not where it's been.

Agents can read your credits and training on your resume, your skills, hobbies and teachers. But they need to know how to market you and how to make that paltry 10% for all the work they have to do- so you can meet the industry and BOOK a job! Even if you aren't currently working in a film or TV series, talk about the future, project your goals and "dream roles" with passion. If they can feel as excited about your career as you are-they'll work WITH you and FOR you!

3. PERSONALITY - BOND OVER ANY SUBJECT. Make A "Connection". Be yourself!

If the conversation is going dry and you've run out of things to say about your "ideal roles" LOOK AROUND THE ROOM. Is there anything that attracts your interest? Do you have anything in common with this person? The artwork on the wall? Their taste in interior design ? See a photo on their desk of their family on a skiing trip or an exotic location where they traveled. Ask about their life and talk about something you both are interested in. If people like you, know you and trust you they'll be motivated to help ...and push your career to the top!

You're going to need to divide the total width of the wall by the width of a poster. Now you could just plug this into a calculator but I doubt that's what your teacher wants. Instead try using the Keep-Change-Flip method:

2.25 ft = 9/4 ft and 13.5 feet = 27/2 ft

now you want to do 27/2 ÷ 9/4. But since that's like hard to do...you do the method I mentioned earlier:

27/2 x 4/9 = ?? Notice we kept the first term, changed the middle piece, and flipped the last term? When you multiply that out you should get 108/18 which = 6. So the Answer is 6 Posters. Now you just multiply 6 by the Price of each poster to get that answer:

6 Posters x $12.95 = $77.70
