I never heard anything about it.Im sure Micks parents wasn't happy with him dropping out of collage. I think they may have gotten over it and keith.same goes for Keith's parents, they are so famous not much matters.

Coming on the heels of the Rolling Stones' most acclaimed album Exile On Main Street and a four album winning streak, Goats Head Soup had the deck stacked against it from the beginning as the reviews were less than enthusiastic with some critics proclaiming it the band's worst album since 1967's Their Satanic Majesties Request. First off, Their Satanic Majesties Request was not a bad album, and neither is Goats Head Soup. As a matter fact, it is very good-and on top of this it shows Mick Jagger and Keith Richards going in different directions, as Jagger is ascending up the celebrity A-list while Richards is slipping deeper into drug addiction.

There are moments that border on the rock n' roll decadence parody that the subsequent It's Only Rock 'n Roll would bring to the surface as the opening track, "Dancing With Mr D." "Dancing" would take the band's (namely Jagger's) satanic image to comic extremes while the closing track "Star Star" (originally titled "Starf___er") celebrated their (and many other celebrities') decadent lifestyle in an over-the-top sexually explicit manner. Aside from those two tracks there are beautiful songs: such as the haunting "100 Years Ago"; the smash hit ballad "Angie" which Jagger wrote for Anita Pallenberg (who was married to Keith Richards at the time!); the majestic and drugged out tracks "Winter" (which recalls "Moonlight Mile" on Sticky Fingers) and Keith's vocal contribution "Coming Down Again"; and the murky psychedelia of "Can You Hear The Music." Of course there is always good blues rock as "Silver Train" and "Hide Your Love" best demonstrate.

The highpoint along with maybe "Angie" is the socially conscious funky hard-rocker "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)" which deals with the grit and filth of 1970s New York City, namely the accidental shooting of a young boy by the police.

While Goats Head Soup might be a notch below Exile, it is much more accessible, not to mention, a great album.

My name is Nathan Stallings and my interests are both popular music and music history. Some of my favorite artists are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, The Smiths, David Bowie, The Kinks, Depeche Mode, Bob Dylan, Morrissey, Chuck Berry, Bob Marley, R.E.M., Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Muddy Waters, The Cars, Miles Davis, Smashing Pumpkins, Merle Haggard and The Cure too name a few.
For any collector, rare and hard to find items are the most coveted pieces on their wish lists. It can be difficult and frustrating trying to track known that must have addition to your collection, especially with the truly extraordinary items.

If music is your passion then owning a little piece of the history of your favourite group or artist can be satisfying hobby. Practically anything with the smallest connection to a band or artist can be considered memorabilia if it's rare or collectible enough; anything from lunchboxes or key chains right up to records and sheet music. The most sort after items however are the uncommon ones, pieces that were not mass produced; which makes them special and unique.

A popular thing to collect is records. Rare recordings or limited editions can sometimes sell for thousands of pounds depending on the artist. A copy of the Rolling Stones' Street Fighting Man, for example, sold recently for just over £9,000, and a mint condition copy of The White Album by The Beatles, recently sold for almost £20,000! This goes to show that record collecting can be a very a very expensive business, but also hugely satisfying each time you add something to it!

A less expensive thing to focus on is autographs and signed photographs. These types of items are more available than records but certain peoples signatures can be harder to find than others. Obviously, autographs of deceased celebrities are going to be harder to find and, as a result, more expensive to buy. Also, bands like The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, who no longer record are very sought after. If you can find a photograph or other merchandise with the signatures of all the band members it be much more valuable and you should definitely take good care of it!

Even less expensive things to collect are general merchandise from tours or appearances made by the band. Props and costumes from music videos are also becoming popular, and if you look around online you might be able to find some nice pieces. Posters and other advertisements are big sellers and if you can get specific tour posters or limited edition album covers these will probably gain value through the years if you keep them in excellent condition.

You should try the internet first to buy your products; there are a lot of retailers worldwide who specialise in specific bands and merchandise. It's also worth doing some research on high street retailers; they might have just the thing you've been looking for. Auctions and collectors fairs and conventions are also great places to look. Not only do you get to shop here but you can talk to other people and maybe pick up a few tips on finding the best products and getting valuations.

Remember also that rock music never goes out of fashion so if you have the opportunity to pick up something from newer bands, take it. You never know what will be valuable in the future. The young musicians of today may not be legends just yet but they might just be the Beatles of the future!

Beatles - who was the artist for the movie, posters, any of the animation done in general for the Yellow Submarine?

The animation was directed by Tom Halley from Heinz Edelmann's designs.

Major Pentatonic Scale

The major pentatonic scale is often overlooked and misunderstood by guitarists. This is because most players learn the minor pentatonic scale first and assume it's the end-all and be-all of scales for guitar. In a blues setting, guitarists can even play it over both minor and major chords which further adds to the confusion. By not understanding how the pentatonic can function in a major context, musicians miss out on half the sounds and styles that these scale patterns can produce.

E Minor/G Major Pentatonic Scale

In the open position, pentatonic scale pattern one produces what most guitar players call the E minor pentatonic scale. It's played over some type of E minor chord (or sometimes E major in a blues setting). Emphasizing the E notes in the pattern reinforces the minor sound. But the very same notes and pattern can also be the G major pentatonic scale. All you have to do is play the scale over some type of G major chord. Emphasizing the G notes in the pattern reinforces the major sound.

So the first note in pentatonic scale pattern one is always the minor root and the second note is always the major root. This holds true for all keys.

Major Pentatonic Scale Songs

The songs listed below are just some of many examples that use the major pentatonic scale for guitar. In all of them, the scale is played over major chords and the second note in pattern one is functioning as the root.

"Honky Tonk Woman" The Rolling Stones...................................Intro Gtr. Lick

"Wish You Were Here" Pink Floyd....................12-String & Lead Gtr. Intro, Bass

"Sweet Home Alabama" Lynyrd Skynyrd...............................Gtr. Intro & Solos

"Centerfold" The J. Geils Band................................................Gtr. Riff

"Cannonball" Duane Eddy....................................................Gtr. Riff

"Amazing Grace" Hymn..................................................Vocal Melody

"Amie" Pure Prairie League.....................................Gtr. Intro (A major)

"All Right Now" Free.....................................Gtr. Solo 2:28 (A major)

"Jessica" The Allman Brothers Band....................Bass Intro & Chorus (A major)

"Upside Down" Jack Johnson..................................Gtr. Riff 0:11 (E major)

"I Love Rock 'N Roll" Joan Jett...............................Gtr. Solo (E major)

"Yellow Ledbetter" Pearl Jam....................................Gtr. Solo (E major)

"Blue Sky" The Allman Brothers Band.....................Gtr. Intro & Solo (E major)

"Gasoline Alley" Rod Stewart.......................Gtr./Vocal Melody 0:29 (E major)

"My Girl" The Temptations..........................Gtr. 1 Riff A & B(C & F major)

"Better Together" Jack Johnson..................................Gtr. Intro (F major)

"Let It Be" The Beatles ...................................Gtr. 1 Verse 2 (C major)

"Maggie May" Rod Stewart.......................................Gtr. Solo (D major)

Major Pentatonic Scale Theory

This is just one of the many benefits to learning music theory for guitar. The better you understand the features and functions of your musical tools, the better you'll develop as a guitar player. Try it!

I'm going to the Avenged Sevenfold concert tonight...here's what I have on right now-

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b126/saturn_soldier_990/Photo17.jpg

I'm going to paint my nails black. Unfortunately I don't have any A7X gear...yet. =D Is this alright?

It's Avenged Sevenfold. they wont care. If you were to wear a Fall Out Boy shirt to a Slayer concert... you'd die. But A7X aren't anything like Slayer, so you're fine.

If you've ever listened to Latin or salsa music, chances are you've heard conga drums beating in the background. A conga is a Cuban drum that is made from wood or fiberglass, and can vary in size and sound. Conga drums are generally played in sets of two, and the beat is drummed out with the palms and fingers of the hand. You may see conga players standing in front of their drums when they are mounted on a stand, or sitting in front of two or three of them. The conga rhythm will entrance you while the beat makes you want to hop up on your feet and dance. People who play the congas are called conguero, and we can thank many famous conga players for their popular beats in both modern music as well as great music from the past.

Ray Barretto is one of the most recognized conga players. He's been called the Godfather of Latin Jazz or the King of Hard Hands. During his career in New York and beyond, he not only provided conga accompanying to bands like the Rolling Stones, he also scored his own hits such as "El Watusi,." Barretto was an accomplished recording artist, and eventually went on to win a Grammy for one of his albums. His career spanned both the creation of a fusion band as well as multiple solo efforts. The unique style that Barretto displayed when playing the congas translated into his future influence over both Latin jazz and salsa.

If you enjoy the soothing beats of two or three congos at one time, you have Candido Camero to thank. Camero hailed from Cuba and moved to New York to work with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie. Originally conguero's played one drum at a time, but Candido choose to play two or three, along with a side bongo. Candido is still wowing the crowds at the age of 88, as he tours New York.

Armando Peraza is a Cuban percussionist with long time ties to modern music through Carlos Santana and jazz pianist George Shearing. Peraza was a young man with no experience when, looking to fulfill a spot in a band that needed a conga player, he taught himself the conga in one afternoon. Peraza is a long-standing member of the group Santana, and has also played with Peggy Lee and Eric Clapton.

Like Peraza, Francisco Aguabella is another famous modern conguero. Providing drum beats for The Doors and Paul Simon, Aguabella also taught drumming at the University of California.

Carlos 'Patato' Valdes was not so much a recording artist as he was an instrumental part in creating the modern conga drum. Valdes pioneered the metal ring that is affixed to the body of the conga, which allowed the user to tighten the skin in order to provide proper tuning of the instrument. His invention was patented under the name "Patato" model, and is used by modern bands to this day. Created from fiberglass, the Patato design is for a tall drum with a wide belly and small bottom. Valdes is also known for pioneering a melodic drum sound.

Whether you enjoy fine Latin jazz or romantic salsa, chances are you'll be hearing a conga drum mixed into the melody. The conga drum sound interlaces with melodies to provide a seamless musical experience. Not unlike the pioneers of rock and roll, famous conguero are responsible for much of the beat in percussion we enjoy today.

http://www.X8Drums.com is the destination for percussion enthusiasts from around the world who seek personal expert advice and exceptional selection when purchasing djembes, congas, and bongo drums.
