Coming on the heels of the Rolling Stones' most acclaimed album Exile On Main Street and a four album winning streak, Goats Head Soup had the deck stacked against it from the beginning as the reviews were less than enthusiastic with some critics proclaiming it the band's worst album since 1967's Their Satanic Majesties Request. First off, Their Satanic Majesties Request was not a bad album, and neither is Goats Head Soup. As a matter fact, it is very good-and on top of this it shows Mick Jagger and Keith Richards going in different directions, as Jagger is ascending up the celebrity A-list while Richards is slipping deeper into drug addiction.

There are moments that border on the rock n' roll decadence parody that the subsequent It's Only Rock 'n Roll would bring to the surface as the opening track, "Dancing With Mr D." "Dancing" would take the band's (namely Jagger's) satanic image to comic extremes while the closing track "Star Star" (originally titled "Starf___er") celebrated their (and many other celebrities') decadent lifestyle in an over-the-top sexually explicit manner. Aside from those two tracks there are beautiful songs: such as the haunting "100 Years Ago"; the smash hit ballad "Angie" which Jagger wrote for Anita Pallenberg (who was married to Keith Richards at the time!); the majestic and drugged out tracks "Winter" (which recalls "Moonlight Mile" on Sticky Fingers) and Keith's vocal contribution "Coming Down Again"; and the murky psychedelia of "Can You Hear The Music." Of course there is always good blues rock as "Silver Train" and "Hide Your Love" best demonstrate.

The highpoint along with maybe "Angie" is the socially conscious funky hard-rocker "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)" which deals with the grit and filth of 1970s New York City, namely the accidental shooting of a young boy by the police.

While Goats Head Soup might be a notch below Exile, it is much more accessible, not to mention, a great album.

Hip-Hop music includes violent and abusive lyrics that could possibly mirror other illegal activities used for sexual intent. The music identified as hip-hop verbally violates basic human rights, particularly the rights of women. Excessive and blatant sexual abuse connotations can be found in almost every musical score, as women are portrayed as whores and assets worth no more than existing for man's sexual pleasures. Much of the lyrics in rap songs are abusive and degrading to all women.

Hip-Hop is a manifestation and spin on exploitation of African-American and Latino-American youth, and is often considered to have sexism and misogyny attributes. New York City blacks and Latino youths originally started the hip-hop culture, with included rapping, deejaying, break-dancing and graffiti-writing. But, it has evolved into something much more than just local expressions.

Hip-Hop is a lifestyle for many people between the ages of 13 and 30. It involves music, videos, fashion, club-scenes, and the ways that young people interact with each other. The media has embraced and adopted the hip-hop culture, as well as big corporations, such as Coca-Cola and Burger King. Versions of hip-hop can be found in marketing media and corporate advertisements. The Brooklyn Museum of Art even has an exhibit dedicated to hip-hop culture.

The most influential part of hip-hop has become known as rap music. Rap music is a form of poetry, recited over musical instrumentation. Many consider rap music to be brutally honest, violent, and misogynistic. But to others, the violence to and hatred of women appears blatant and offensive.

Much of rap music portrays black women in negative images. The hip-hop culture views all women, but mostly black women, as sex objects. Most hip-hop videos show women dancing or displayed in explicit sexual poses, clothed in bikinis (or less), with the focus on their body parts. The images go hand in hand with the explicit language that suggest women are nothing more than sex objects or money-generating commodities. Many rappers describe themselves as 'pimps' and women as second-class and sexual commodities. Many rap songs, not only, glorify the pimp lifestyle, and refer to women in ways a pimp might describe their prostitutes, but the lyrics promote violence to women that "disobey."

Of course, not all rap music is misogynistic, and not all black men think of women in this light, but large percentages within the hip-hop culture do. The name calling in the rap music dishonors, disrespects, and dehumanizes women. When society accepts labeling women in this manner, will physical and psychological abuse become acceptable? Unfortunately, many black men battle racism or oppression within hip-hop culture, and have been conditioned to distrust intrusive feelings of trust and love.

Many women consent to these collaborations, and believe racism or subjugation are viable excuses or justification for the practice of degrading and exploitation of women. The numbers of women that show up for unpaid try-outs for video shoots indicate that significant amounts of hip-hop consumers are women. Groups of women can be seen loitering in concert backstage areas, expressing their willingness to perform sexually in return for money and jewelry, or perhaps realize a feeling of being wanted.

Black women have, historically, been used as sex instruments, and continue to fight for power and material wealth. When slavery was legal and rampant, black women were routinely sexually abused by any man that wanted her. They could be used for breeding purposes and create more slave trade for their owners. Black women, also, used sex in order to lower chances of cruel treatment by the slave masters. They were paying with their bodies to survive and achieve better treatment within the uncontrolled, abusive slave life.

Black women emerged out of slavery as oversexed and promiscuous. Some viewed themselves as society dictated, and believed they did not have control over their bodies. As they tried to fit into white societies, some black men wanted the women to be employed in subordinate roles in a white household; while some black women wanted the men to acquire jobs and be the sole provider. Hip-hop culture displays similar oppressive obsessions. Some black women prefer to use sexual powers to reap economical gain. And, many black men have learned how to manipulate women by using money. In order for many black women to get what they want, they accept mistreatment and allow themselves to be exploited through hip-hop images.

Sometimes black women are uneducated and have no job skills. Many believe their bodies are all they have to offer to gain status. Many dysfunctional relationships can be found within the hip-hop culture. Some women believe men are instruments of use to gain access to money; some men think women are only have value when it comes to sexual gratification.

Would censoring hip-hop music and lyrics be an answer? Perhaps, the solution would be to change the hip-hop society and ideology by discontinue negative and misogynistic lyric promotion. But, the first step to change gender relations within the hip-hop community is education. People need to be made aware of the negative and derogatory connotations that continue to violate women's rights, in sexist lyrics, physical interactions, and at hip-hop gatherings. But, of course, people need to be receptive to the devastating results that violating human rights cause, and be willing to change.

Are human flesh traders alive and well in the United States? Of course, we all know trafficking women is illegal, but considering the more than 45,000,000 dating websites on the Internet, is this a modern legal tool that continues the exploitation of women?

Speaking out against exploitation of women in hip-hop cultures, and for women everywhere, can help change ideologies. But, if women are not interested or willing to stop exploitation tactics, they will continue to be used and considered as just sexual instruments.

Although women have come very far, their work is not finished, and they have a long way to go before equality will be realized.

What is the year, make, and model of the muscle car John Milner drives in the movie, "American Graffiti?"

It's the movie George Lucas wrote and directed that I believe came out in 1970 about young adults in the early 60's. John Milner is the character's name that owns the car. Harrison Ford, the actor, is in the movie and in one scene calls the car "piss yellow," when he's trying to get Milner to race. I'm pretty sure the car is customized, but that car rules. If only I knew the year, make, and model. If I could have any two cars in the world, you might call me crazy, but it would be a brand new one of those and a brand new 1987 Buick Grand National, no mileage, which of course is impossible. Big differences in muscle cars, yeah, I know. If you know at least the make and or model (there's no way you're gonna know the year if you don't even know the make or model), tell me that. If you don't know any of these, tell me what you thought about the movie. If you haven't seen the movie and you like movies/cars about/from the late 50's/early 60's, then rent it dammit. An exclusive, one-of-a-kind workshop for theater students, Hands-On Broadway features thematic 90-minute sessions that are both fun and educational. During this program, student participants go behind the scenes with Broadway professional who strives to expand and enhance their skills.

For example, student performers can explore the techniques of how a theatrical text comes to life by partnering with an instructor to better understand the creation of inventive, honest, and detailed scene work. They can also gain a better understanding of what it means to pursue a career in the arts with a workshop designed to arm students with an arsenal of information, including headshots, resumes, auditions, and college admissions. Choral students can perform alongside a Broadway professional while learning about vocal technique. Britney was born in McComb, Mississippi, on December 2, 1981 and was raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. Her parents are Lynne and James Spears. Her mother was an elementary school teacher and her father is a building contractor. She has a brother, Bryan, and a sister, Jamie.

She attended gymnastics classes until she was nine years old, competing in gymnastic competitions at the state level. She joined the choir at her Baptist church and performed in dance revues...normal activities for a pretty and talented young girl in the south at that time.

When she was eight years old, she auditioned for The New Mickey Mouse Club, on the Disney Channel. The producer on the show considered her too young to be a member of the club and introduced her to an agent in New York City. She spent the next 3 summers at the Professional Performing Arts School in NYC, where she appeared in a few off-Broadway productions. In 1991, at the age of 9, she appeared in Ruthless!

The next year, she was in Star Search, a popular television show of the time, where she won the first round but lost the second. When Britney was 11, she finally got her spot on The New Mickey Mouse Club in Lakeland, Florida, and was a main feature on the show from 1993 to 1994. When the show ended, Britney returned to Kentwood and attended high school for a year.

1997 was a busy year for Britney. Briefly, she was a member of the all-female group, Innosense, and later that year, she recorded a demo and was signed by Jive Records and embarked on a U.S. concert tour sponsored by American Teen Magazine. Before the year was up, she became an opening act for 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. She was barely 15 at the time.

The following year, Britney became a superstar with her recording of "Baby One More Time." Although she initially presented and promoted a good girl image for her album, the music video that came out of the hit CD could have been her first hint of the troubles to come.

Her first music video was originally planned to be set in a cartoon-like environment to attract young children. But Britney didn't like that idea at all. She wanted a more mature presentation and the set moved to Venice High School. Her naughty, school girl outfit that she wore, with the uniform shirt tied up to expose her bare midriff and pigtails that resembled those of the scandalous movie young girl, Lolita, all helped to rocket her into a worldwide superstar.

Looking back over Britney's childhood and teen years, a question comes to mind: Where was her childhood? She started performing in one way or another when she was 9 years old and auditioning when she was a year younger.

If there ever was a time when Oz lovers were vilified for their passion it may be this week as Oz and the world celebrates 70 years of timeless wonder. For those of us who grew up watching this magical event once a year...

I have always been a wizard of Oz fan, it is probably my favorite movie of all time. Yet, maybe I never really understood the genuine mystic, magic behind this 1939 masterpiece until two years ago when my daughter was just a year old. I'll never forget as the Lion (the lovable Bert Lahr) burst from the woods with a cowardly persona disguised by a false intimidation. Little Anna's eyes were as wide as they could get, fixated on this furry, unfamiliar character. She was mesmerized as I was over 40 years ago at my first Oz viewing. This movie really took you inside, like an out of body experience onto the "yellow brick road".

This week to celebrate this historical event was one-shot theatrical runs of Oz in high definition in nearly 400 cities. And, This Wizard, hits stores on Sept. 29 in a newly remastered Hi-Def DVDs and Blu-ray.

As a collector of original vintage movie memorabilia the Wizard of Oz was my earliest collecting passions. And, 25 years later it may be the most popular of all my categories on my vintage treasures web site. From autographed photos of Oz cast members to original movie posters, these are examples of Oz treasures collectors can't get enough of. To give you an example of the demand for original vintage Oz memorabilia. Last week an authentically autographed photo in character of the "Good Witch Glinda" sold for over $11,000.

For Oz and autograph collectors an autographed photo in Oz character of Glinda is highly scarce as only ONE other has ever surfaced on the market prior to last week's auction. Other scarce Oz signed photos are Frank Morgan as the Wizard (sold for over $10,000), Judy Garland as "Dorothy" (sell for over $20,000) and the Bert Lahr as the "Lion" (sells for over $10,000). The original movie posters can sell in excess of $50,000. However, since an original Wizard of OZ one sheet movie poster has never surfaced in the marketplace, a value of over $100,000 would be no surprise. Hence, if you are a collector of Oz memorabilia, you have good taste, not to mention wise investment intuition.

Other events this week include A 71/2-story hot-air balloon that began touring the country since taking off May 13 from Kansas City, Kan., stops Thursday at New York's Tavern on the Green. The gala features Judy Garland's daughter Lorna Luft, surviving Munchkins and Ashanti, who plays Dorothy in New York City Center's production of The Wiz. All this and a yellow brick carpet, too.

Also to celebrate Oz turning 70 this week Ashanti will light the Empire State Building - Emerald City-green, of course. All of this to commemorate what many believe to be the greatest movie ever produced. Just think, 70 years later, with all the technology and Hollywood talent, nothing has since come close.

So I would really really like to know how I can get an autographed picture from Tokio hotel And they have a puzzle ball but it's only sold in certain country's does anyone know where i can get one in Canada ??

i'm not sure, i think you might have to send a letter requesting an autographed photo to Germany, if they send one back it's most likely it's just a print out picture of a photo they previously signed, they don't have the time to sing ALL those requests for autographs.

I don't know what a puzzle ball is but i'm pretty sure you can't get it in Canada, i live in Canada and so far i haven't found any TH merchandise anywhere only CDs, you have to order online.

Recently The Devil wears Prada showed us the power of the fashion industry in a place like New York City. This film inspired everyone to have their very own Cinderella makeover.

Obviously Sex and the City has been a Pop Culture fashion icon, starting out as a TV Series and now a Box Office Hit movie. These characters popularized Diane Von Furstenberg's wrap dress, Marc Jacobs' suits and Manolo Blahnik stilettos. A true classic, the Swiss made Tag Heuer Watches, can be traced all the way back to 1860 and a young man by the name of Edouard Heuer who at the age of just 20 opened his first watch workshop  "Edouard Heuer, Fabrique d'Horlogerie." in the Swiss village of Saint-Imier.  

Heuer a tinkerer by nature was fascinated with precision time-keeping. His emphasis on precision was exemplified in 1916 with the introduction of what would be called the "Micrograph", a stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second, this would shortly be followed by the Semicrosplit, accurate to 1/50th of a second.  His obsession with precision is what would ultimately lead to worldwide notoriety. His chronographs were so cutting edge that in 1920 they were chosen as the official timepiece of the Antwerp Olympics. Decades later, it would be a Tag Heuer that would become the first Swiss watch to go into outer space on the wrist of John Glenn.

To get to a level of such precision, Heuer worked long hard hours and along the way patented a variety of unique mechanical functions such as the "Time of Trip" feature (think of two sets of hour and minute hands overlaid one which tells the time, the other which acts as a timer) which extended beyond the wrist and into the dashboards of planes and cars in the early 1900s. Heuer was so ahead of his time, his patent for the oscillating pinion granted in 1887 is still used in many watches today. 

As the years rolled by Heuer would create a series of famous watches, each more innovative and more accurate than the prior. It was 1969 however that would represent the next step forward in watch making when a joint venture between Heuer, Breitling and Hamilton would yield what was arguably the worlds first automatic chronograph. This achievement, unveiled in New York on March 3rd 1969 helped further expose the brand on the worlds stage and would solidify its place as a lasting luxury watch manufacturer.

In 1985, Heuer was purchased by Tag (Techniques d'Avant Garde) to create the Tag Heuer Watch company. The company would go on to make one of the most popular Tag Heuer models ever, The Tag Heuer Formula 1 Watch. On September 13th, 1999 the company would be sold to luxury brand holding company LVMH  Louis Vuitton  Moet Hennessy for an estimated $750 million dollars. The new parent company would further increase distribution capacity exponentially and enhance the Tag Heuer Watch brand as one of status and privilege.

Piano recital in NYC?

Im giving a piano recital in new york city in December. I am a beginner on piano, and ive only graduated two books ( level one prep book, and level one book) I am looking for a nice peice to play at the recital, seeing as I have two months to learn a nice piece, i decided I would ask for suggestions. If you can, please post a link to where i may find sheet music. thanks
